These deeply-colored varieties are indigenous to Turkey the land where wild vitis vinifera originated. Okuzgozu is known as Bull’s Eye for its large, dark berries and has fruit-forward flavors of black cherry and raspberry with lively acidity. Bogazkere is named the Throat Scratcher for its high, dense tannins and flavors of mulberry and blackberry with complex black pepper, clove, chocolate and licorice notes.
Tasting Notes: Deep core to medium violet rim with aromas of blue plum and mulberry, graphite, caramel, tobacco and dark spice. Quite firm and bright on the palate, medium tannins and generous flavors mirror the aromas with dusty tannins on the finish. Balanced and expressive with the potential to develop additional complexity in five to seven years.

Okuzgozu is grown in Hankendi (Hahn-ken-dee) in the province of Elazıg (El-ah-zu)which lies in the northwest corner of the Euphrates River valley.
Bogazkere is grown on the right bank of the Tigris River in Ergani (Er-gah-knee) in the southern foothills of the Zulkuf Mountains (Zool-koof), in the Diyarbakir (Dee-yahr-bah-kehr) Province.
