Suvla

Suvla is family owned wine producer and viticulture company located in Eceabat, by the Canakkale  Strait-Dardanelles on the historical peninsula of Gallipoli. The region is becoming a center of developing vineyards. In this region, famous with it’s deep history, the relationship  between vines and soil has been ongoing for centuries.

Suvla is named after a bay in the north coast of the Aegean Sea in Turkey, close to family vineyards Bozokbağ. Suvla pursues to produce wines of great density, rich in character with elegant and exquisite finish to complement food.

Surrounded by pine trees with a smell of intense resin and lavender in the salty air by the seaside, the vineyards have the hardpan soil and the northwest winds prevailing the micro climate which provides highly convenient terroir for the maturation of high quality grapes. Vineyards of Suvla, named “Bozokbağ” (80 hectars) were established in 2003. Vineyards have a wide variety of vines. Reds are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Grenache Noir, Petite Verdot, Pinot Noir. The whites are Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Roussanne and Marsanne. Indigenous varieties are Kinali Yapincak and Karasakiz. Vineyards are under the certification of  ‘Good Agriculture Practice – GAP’.

Suvla Winery was established in 2009. The winery is only 3 to 14 km away from the vineyards, which makes it possible to obtain ultimate quality chateau style wines. The modern style winery boasts 5200 square meters and houses a traditional olive and natural agricultural products processing facility as well. Focusing on quality,  working with leaders in all equipments and with latest technologies, winery has processing capacity of over 600.000 bottles, incorporating state of the art technology and knowhow. Winery layout is configured to process the grapes with gravity. Temperature controlled stainless steel fermentation and storage tanks are designed by professional consultants. Cooling system and cool rooms enable to retain the aromas and preserve the sugar levels. After harvesting, the grapes are held in cool rooms for a short period of time prior processing. Stabilization infrastructure helps the winemakers to keep all aromas and tannins of the grapes in the juice. Selected wines are aged in oak barrels for premium labels. A very distinguished terroir and high winery standards enable the winemakers to perform flawlessly. The very precious consultancies of French oenologues Jacques Antoine Toublanc, Charles Emmanuel Girard, Francis Poirel add value to SUVLA wine making team; oenologue Dimitar Dimov and oenologue Eda Acılıoğlu.

Suvla wines have young premium, premium and ultra premium labels to satisfy different tastes. 25 labels of whites, roses and reds are placed in the markets with enthusiasm by the public. By releasing initial labels in April 2012, Suvla won medals in several international wine contests; Masters of Wine Weekend Istanbul 2012, Decanter World Wine Awards, Master Sommeliers’, Concours Mondial du Bruxelles, International Wine Challenge, Balkans Wine Challenge.
