About This Wine

ŞAYESTE (shy-esta)

100 % Öküzgözü (oh-cooz-goe-zue)

Okuzgozu is a deeply-colored variety indigenous to Turkey the land where wild vitis vinifera originated. Known as Bull’s Eye for its large, dark berries, it has fruit-forward flavors of black cherry and raspberry with lively acidity comparable to a full-bodied Barbera or balanced California Zinfandel.

Tasting Notes: Deep core to medium ruby rim with aromas of almond, black cherry and blue plums. Medium weight in body and tannins. Bright red cherry and plum flavors spiced with clove and cardamom are underscored by notes of leather and earth. Balanced and expressive with the potential to develop though not intended for extensive aging.

Designation: Turkey

Sub region: Eastern Turkey: Okuzgozu is grown in Hankendi (Hahn-ken-dee) in the province of Elazıg (El-ah-zu)which lies in the northwest corner of the Euphrates River valley.
